Ingredients

Group: For the House Sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. pickle relish
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Cast-iron skillet
  • Small bowl
  • Spatula or burger press
  • Whisk

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, garlic powder, and onion powder. Whisk until smooth, and adjust the salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Divide the ground beef into four equal pieces (about 4 ounces each) and gently form them into balls.
  3. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it’s sizzling hot.
  4. Place two balls of beef in the skillet and smash each down to about 1/2 inch thick, seasoning generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Once the burgers are golden brown after about 2-3 minutes, flip them and add a slice of cheese on top of each patty.
  6. While the cheese melts, butter the insides of the buns and toast them in the skillet until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers with house sauce, the patties, and your favorite toppings.
  8. Enjoy your burgers immediately while hot and juicy!

Notes

These burgers are best enjoyed fresh off the skillet!
