Ingredients

Group: Cookie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
Group: Mix-Ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (preferably semi-sweet)
  • 1 cup Oreo cookie pieces (approximately 5-6 cookies, roughly crushed)

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rubber spatula
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until no flour streaks remain.
  5. Carefully fold in the chocolate chips and crushed Oreos.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the center has a slight jiggle.
  8. Let cool on the sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chilling the dough can enhance flavors and improve texture, although it is not mandatory.
