Ingredients

Group: Bread Bowl
  • 1 large round loaf crusty bread (sourdough or artisan)
Group: Seafood Filling
  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 1 cup cooked crab meat (lump crab preferred)
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (sharp cheddar and mozzarella blend)
  • 1/2 cup diced green onions
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Carefully cut the top off your round loaf of bread to create a lid, and hollow out the inside, leaving about 1 inch of bread around the edges.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, shrimp, crab meat, shredded cheese, green onions, lemon juice, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Spoon the seafood filling into the hollowed-out bread bowl, pressing down gently. Place the lid on top.
  4. Place the bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the bread is golden brown.
  5. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
