- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam for about 30 minutes until tender.
- While the rice steams, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves, avoiding boiling.
- Transfer the steamed rice to a bowl, pour two-thirds of the warm coconut sauce over it, and gently fold. Let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Peel and slice the mangoes into thin strips for presentation.
- Serve a scoop of sticky rice with mango slices, drizzle with remaining coconut sauce, and garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans.
Notes
Using high-quality coconut milk and ripe mangoes can greatly enhance this dish's flavor.
