- Pat chicken pieces dry with paper towels. In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Coat the chicken with the mixture.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F) if using gas; if using charcoal, prepare the coals until glowing.
- Place the chicken skin-side down on the grill. Sear for 5-7 minutes until golden, then flip and brush BBQ sauce onto the grilled side.
- Baste the chicken with BBQ sauce, reduce heat to medium, cover the grill, and cook for 15-20 minutes checking the internal temperature for 165°F.
- Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with herbs and drizzle more BBQ sauce if desired.
