  • 2 Tbsp. sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 cup whole milk or favorite alternative
  • 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
  • whipped cream for topping
  • chocolate shavings for garnish, optional
  • crushed candy cane for garnish

Method
 

  1. Brew a shot of espresso or prepare strong brewed coffee.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together cocoa powder and sugar until combined.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until steaming.
  4. Add the cocoa mixture to the saucepan, whisking continuously until dissolved. Stir in peppermint extract and espresso.
  5. Pour into a favorite mug, top with whipped cream, and garnish with chocolate shavings and crushed candy cane.
