Ingredients

Group: Blueberry Syrup
  • ½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 Tbsp. honey or maple syrup
  • splash of water
Group: Matcha Latte
  • 1 cup milk of your choice
  • 1 tsp. culinary grade matcha powder
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Mug

Method

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the blueberries, honey, and a splash of water. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the blueberries burst and the mixture thickens slightly into a syrup.
  2. While the syrup is simmering, sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to eliminate clumps. Add 2 tablespoons of hot (not boiling) water and whisk vigorously until you achieve a glossy, frothy mixture.
  3. In the same saucepan used for the syrup, heat your milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling. Stir in the blueberry syrup, creating a beautiful contrast of colors.
  4. Pour the blueberry milk mixture into your favorite mug, gently layer the matcha on top, and stir to combine.
  5. Add a dash of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance all the flavors.
  6. Sip your Blueberry Matcha Latte slowly, enjoying the creamy texture and rich flavors.

Notes

Be sure to use water around 175°F (80°C) for the matcha to avoid bitterness. Sifting the matcha ensures a smooth consistency.
