Ingredients

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adjust based on sweetness of apples
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch to thicken

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup whole milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice. Sprinkle in the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Toss until evenly coated.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and spread it evenly.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the melted butter and whole milk, stirring until just combined.
  5. Spoon the topping over the apples. It’s okay to leave some gaps for a rustic look.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm, optionally with ice cream.

Notes

This cobbler is best enjoyed warm, especially with ice cream or whipped cream.
